ACORN Brighton: Standing Up for Tenant Rights

Tenants Daisy and Ramona found themselves in a challenging situation when their landlord imposed a massive 12% rent increase, exceeding the 5% maximum specified in their contract. Refusing to accept this unjust hike, they confronted the landlord and were shocked to receive a Section 21 “no-fault” eviction notice in response.

As ACORN members, Daisy and Ramona knew they wouldn’t face this battle alone. ACORN Brighton stepped in to support them and defend their housing security. The organization visited Justin Lloyd Estate Agents to present their demands, urging the landlord to drop the eviction threat and negotiate the rent increase. However, Justin Lloyd Estate Agents refused to cooperate.

ACORN Brighton is not backing down in their fight for tenant rights. They are ready to take further action to protect Daisy and Ramona from eviction and homelessness. To show solidarity with the couple and challenge the mistreatment by their landlord, ACORN Brighton issued their own symbolic eviction notice to Justin Lloyd Estate Agents!
