Youth Lead the Way in Cleveland and A Community Voice Fights Industrial Canal Expansion in Louisiana
This week, ACORN Cleveland’s youth leaders held a student-led town hall to respond to Ohio House Bill 96 and the federal education funding freeze. From demanding better school safety to protecting vital education resources, students made their voices heard and laid out a bold, community-centered vision for change. In Louisiana, A Community Voice continued their tireless advocacy against planned expansion of the industrial canal that would displace residents, uproot homes, and cause environmental havoc.

A Community Voice hosted their annual Awardees Dinner and Christmas party, where members of the community were honored for the advocacy to advance the causes of the working people of Louisiana. Honorees included Inez Barnes, Diane Adams, Rev. Richard S Bell Sr, and Louisiana State Representative Matthew Willard.

Building Power: A Community Voice Trains Future Organizers, ACORN Expands to Maryland & Cleveland.
In November, A Community Voice hosted a training in partnership with the Claiborne Alliance for Xavier University students, focusing on the importance and practice of community organizing and outreach. Progressive Maryland voted to affiliate with ACORN, and an ACORN Tenants Union has received support to launch in Cleveland!
