Informe Abril ACORN Argentina

El mes de abril fue de mucha bendición y éxito para Acorn-Argentina. El grupo de personas con la que estamos trabajando se ha ido consolidando cada día más y no solo eso sino que algunas mujeres de la comunidad que no estaban muy interesadas ahora son un miembro importante del grupo.

Por otro lado tuvimos la oportunidad de asistir a la 3 Feria de ONGs en Buenos Aires. Allí conocimos a muchas organizaciones que trabajan ayudando a la comunidad e hicimos lazos con ONGs que puedan beneficiar a los miembros de Acorn-Argentina. Uno de ellos fue el hecho de conocer al Club de Cine infantil La Linterna Mágica de Buenos Aires, quienes les dan la oportunidad a niños de escasos recursos de poder ver cine educativo. La Linterna Mágica de Buenos Aires le ha dado la oportunidad a 20 niños hijos de los miembros de Acorn-Argentina de asistir gratuitamente a ver las funciones todo el año, para nosotros es una alegría muy grande ya que sería la primera vez que estos niños pueden asistir al cine.

Por otro lado estamos haciendo contacto con la Organización Árboles Sin Frontera con quienes podríamos llegar a un acuerdo para iniciar una huerta que beneficie a los miembros de la comunidad.

Otro logro importante es el inicio de las clases de Inglés, Emma, una voluntaria de Estados Unidos dio la primera clase, deseamos la próxima semana continuar con ellas. Solo que el mal clima no nos ha permitido hacerlas con regularidad. También es importante contar la labor de Ali Schwach y su compañero Jessi, dos chicos de Estados Unidos que nos acompañaron un sábado en el Club Acorn.

Por último cabe resaltar el esfuerzo de nuestros miembros Mónica, Verónica, María, Alberto, Dennis y demás que han ayudado a iniciar la construcción del Centro cultural. Con mucho esfuerzo lo hemos iniciado, pero con la fe de que lo ¡Lograremos!, al hacerlo no solo conseguiremos más miembros para la organización sino que también alegraremos el corazón de los niños y jóvenes del Barrio Dorrego en Gonzalez Catán – La Matanza.

Este mes seguiremos trabajando en la construcción, e iremos a escuelas en donde contaremos un poco sobre el eco-ladrillo para iniciar con ellos la campaña e involucrar a estos chicos y a sus padres en la organización. Haremos algunos proyectos para pedir donaciones a las diferentes embajadas y trataremos de hacer muchos lazos con otras organizaciones.

Report: April- ACORN Argentina

The month of April was very successful for ACORN Argentina. The group of people we have been working with has strengthened day by day, and even some women of the community that were not very interested at first are now an important part of the group.

We had the opportunity to attend the 3^rd meeting of NGOs in Buenos Aires. There, we met many organizations that work with the community and we built ties with NGOs that can benefit ACORN Argentina members. One of these NGOs is Club de Cine infantil La Linterna Mágica de Buenos Aires, who give children from low income families the opportunity to watch educational films. La Linterna Magica has offered the chance for 20 children of ACORN Argentina members to attend their films all year long; this is a great joy for us as it would be the first time for these children to ever go to the cinema.

We have also got in touch with Organización Árboles Sin Frontera, with which we might be able to set a community garden that would benefit the members of the community.

Another important achievement has been the beginning of the English workshop. Emma, a volunteer from the United States taught the first class. The bad weather, however, has not allowed us to carry the classes regularly. Ali Schwach and Jessi, both from the United States, helped out with Club ACORN as well.

Finally, our members Mónica, Verónica, María, Alberto, Dennis and some others have helped in the building of our Centro Cultural. With lots of effort we have started it with the hope that we will make it. We believe we won’t only get more people to sign up and become members of the organization but we will also give joy to the children and youth of Barrio Dorrego en Gonzalez Catán, La Matanza.

This month we will continue building, and we will go to schools where we will talk about the ‘eco-ladrillo’ project so as to engage more children and their parents. We wish to do fundraising among various embassies, and we will try to keep on making ties with other organizations.

ACORN MEXICO REPORT

 Other Progress:

Coordination and support for Esther Badio’s Passport. Esther is a member of ACORN Mexico who will take part in ACORN International’s meeting in Honduras.

Exchange of experiences with Universidad Obrera de Mexico (Laura Juarez) about ‘Migration and Remittances.’ We will participate in the Sociology Forum in San Pedro Sula, between May 2^nd and 8^th.

Support given by members of ACORN Mexico to SINDICATO DE ELECTRICISTAS MEXICANOS in defense of their rights as workers. Support to communities (5 member families) will not pay for power.

Logistics for Labour Day Parade, May 1^st. All members of ACORN Mexico. Banners and blankets.

Membership dues collection, lemonade sale and fundraising $ 1372.50

Apoyo en coordinación de Pasaporte para Esther Badio, mimbra de ACORN MEXICO, que participara en reunión de ACORN INTERNACIONAL EN HONDURAS.

Intercambio de experiencias sobre tema de MIGRACION Y REMESAS, con la UNIVERSIDAD OBRERA DE MEXICO, (LARUA JUAREZ) participación en Congreso de Sociologia en San Pedro Sula, entre el 2 y 8 de Mayo.

Apoyo solidario de miembros de ACORN MEXICO, a SINDICATO DE ELECTRICISTAS MEXICANOS, no a la violación de sus derechos laborales y apoyo en comunidades a que Miembros realicen sus amparos en NO PAGO DE ELECTRICIDAD en precios Justos (5 familias).

Por el presente cumplo con informarle las actividades realizadas en el mes de Abril con ACORN INTERNATIONAL, INC – PERÚ, desde Enero a Abril del 2011.

En las Comunidades de:

10 de Marzo,Los Cipreses, Los Unidos,Unidos Altos, Laderas de Motupe, Los heraldos de Motupe, Héroes el Cenepa, Nuevo Amanecer II,José Olaya , Buena Vista, Las Vegas, Miravalle-Junin-Perù

Siguiendo con las áreas Temáticas de ACORN, en la Organización de Comunidades, por los derechos de Educación, Salud, Defensa del agua y cuidado del Medio Ambiente en la comunidad del Distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho.

• Organización y nuevos miembros: de Enero hasta Abril hemos afiliado a 60 nuevos miembros.
• Educación.- En coordinación con la Comunidad , Colegio Y ACORN, Se ha dispuesto que el local Comunal se condicione como un espacio de recreación y deporte prioritariamente para los niñas y niñas de la comunidad , Con este hecho se contribuirá para que los niños, niñas y la población joven se dedique al deporte, así se disminuirá el riesgo de conformación de pandillas y consumo licor y drogas.

• Se ha conseguido a través de Tania Maldonado y su hermana Norka, otorguen una donación para la compra de una red para el local en mención; Así se protejerá de que las pelotas que estén en juego salgan fuera del área

• Educación e INFRAESTRUCTURA , se está realizando las coordinaciones pertinente con el Ministerio de vivienda, para conseguir la ampliación del Centro Educativo 10 de marzo

• Salubridad.- Se ha Culminado con la Construcción de un muro de contención mas en zonas de riesgo y acceso a los servicios de saneamiento de las familias. Financiado por Gobierno Central Con el Programa Construyendo Perú.( Ya lo había reportado en el informe anterior que fue hasta el 06 de Abril)donse se destacó la mano de obra de las mujeres de la Comunidad.

• Se ha iniciado las gestiones en la empresa EDELNOR, empresa de energía eléctrica para que la población que aún no cuenta con energía eléctrica pueda contar con este servicio básico.
• Se ha iniciado la Campaña por la Provincialización de San Juan de Lurigancho.

En Perú se está por elegir al nuevo presidente o presidenta, hay cambios de autoridades y por el momento las gestiones no son tan viables, ya que las autoridades de turno culmina su periodo en el gobierno y prestan poco interés en seguir trabajando.

Por el momento es todo cuanto tengo que informar, posteriormente adjuntaré fotos, la falta de una cámara fotográfica sigue siendo una pequeña debilidad.

By hereby I’d like to inform you about the work being done with ACORN INTERNATIONAL, INC – PERÚ, from January to April, 2011.

Communities:

10 de Marzo, Los Cipreses, Los Unidos,Unidos Altos, Laderas de Motupe, Los heraldos de Motupe, Héroes el Cenepa, Nuevo Amanecer II,José Olaya , Buena Vista, Las Vegas, Miravalle-Junin-Perù.

ACORN Peru has been working in the areas of community organizing, education, health, water and in defense of the environment in the community of the District of San Juan de Lurigancho.

• Organization and new members: 60 new members have been affiliated between January and April.
• Education: The community, the school and ACORN Peru have agreed to transform the community center into a recreational space for girls and boys of the community. Children and youth will benefit from this by having a space created specially to play sports. The objective is to decrease the use of drugs and alcohol and gang formation in these age groups.
• Tania Maldonado and her sister Norka have given a donation to buy a net so that   the balls being used don’t go out of the game area.

• Education and INFRAESTRUCTURE: Together with the Ministry of Housing, efforts are being done to expand the school Centro Educativo 10 de marzo.

• Salubrity– The construction of retaining walls in risk areas and the access to sanitation services for families is now finished. The Project was funded by the Central Government with the program ‘Building Peru.’
  
  

We have contacted EDELNOR, the electric power company, so that the population that still has no access to power can soon enjoy this basic service.

We have launched the Campaign for the Provincialization of San Juan de Lurigancho.

Peru is about to choose its new president, for which our actions are not that viable at the moment; the old authorities show little interest in keep on working
